Abba Kabir Yusuf, the governorship candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 elections, and Aminu Abdulsalam, his running mate have defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Abba Yusuf, known as Abba Gida Gida in Kano, is the son-in-law of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano.
He made known his decision at a gathering on Sunday at Kwankwasiyya House at Diso ward, Gwale LGA of the state.
He said PDP had failed its supporters, he also said there is no difference between PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that his decision to dump the opposition party was as a result of “the yearning of teeming supporters”.
Abba said, their reason for leaving the APC at that time was because of injustice. They have went on the wrong lane they were not supposed to.
APC do things that were unholy, we decided we cannot move along with them and defected to the PDP.
On the other side, he said PDP has done a lot of unfavourable things especially at the national headquarters. We thought they will do Justice to us, especially our leader, Kwankwaso.
We thought the PDP will show love to the people of Kano state who came out massively in the year 2019 and voted the party. But what it is doing in return is going against leaders.
Abba said both APC and PDP are bird of the same feather, the reason why they defect from APC was the same reason why they also defected from the PDP.
He said that the NNPP is the party that has the truthful programme that will rescue the people of Kano and Nigeria at large.
Abdusalam also announced his defection at a ceremony held at Gwarzo town, he said he was positive that the NNPP will “ensure that the yearnings and aspirations of teeming people will come to pass”.
