Gov Buni Urges ASUU To Call Off Strike

Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni has today met with management of Yobe State university and leadership of the various Unions of the institution.

The Govenor welcomed members and informed them that the meeting was convened to appeal to the management of the University and unions to review their earlier decision of joining the on going nation wide strike embacked upon by their national body as a mark of solidarity.

Considering the outcry by parents and students of YSU and bearing in mind that there are virtually no outstanding issues between the State Government, the management of YSU and the Unions that will warrant such action.

He further speak on the numerous supports by the state Government in the areas of capital projects and manpower development as well as prompt payment of salaries and other entitlements.

As the State is just recovering from the insurgency and with the declaration of emergency in education, the Unions should look into the peculiarity of the State and call off the Strike.

In thier remarks, both the management of YSU and leadership of the Unions of the University Professor Mala M Daura VC and Dr Muhammad Saje Jajere ASUU Chairman respectively had on behalf of the other Unions appreciated and acknowledged the various supports rendered to the University and assured the State Goverment that the congresses of the various Unions will meet to address the issue and assured the meeting of positive outcome which will be reported back to the Government by Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by the Head of service Alhaji Garba Bilal, Honorable Commissioners of Justice, Higher education, water Resources, and Chairman House Committee on Higher Education and Parliament Secretary Admin, among others.
