There is heavy security presence in some strategic places in Kano city in preparation for the arrival of President Muhammadu Buhari to the state according to Daily Trust.

The president is expected to declare open the Nigeria Air Force Week holding in Kano, road leading to the palace of the Emir of Kano has been condoned off with heavily armed security stationed on the road with their vehicles.

At the Emir’s palace, hundreds of heavily armed security including men of the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, among others were stationed at the gate and around the palace with their vehicles, including EOD vehicles from the State House.

Journalists were, however, barred from gaining entrance into the palace, where the president is expected to visit before heading to the venue of the Air Force week.

It could be recalled that an explosion last week rocked the Sabongari area of Kano state leading to the death of nine persons with as many more injured.

Two days after the explosion, the police said it recovered a vehicle laden with Improvised Explosives Device (IED) materials, guns and ammunition.

There has been disagreement between residents of the area and the police as to what led to the explosion with residents saying it was a bomb attack while the police said all evidence pointed to gas/chemical explosion.
