Candidate of the People’s Democratic party PDP in Taraba State, Lt. Colonel Kefas Agbu retired has won the Governorship Election in the State.
Declaring the results in the early hours of today at the INEC Headquarters in Jalingo the returning officer Professor Mohammed Abdul’azziz said Kefas Agbu polled 257,926 votes to clinched the exalted seat.
Kefas Agbu defeated three other contestants Professor Mohamned Sani Yahaya of the NNPP who scored 222,277 votes, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha of the APC 142,502 votes and Danladi Baido Tijo who got 28,374 votes. Lt. Colonel Kefas Agbu won in 11 out of the 16 Local Governments in Taraba State.
Speaking to Newsmen shortly after the declaration of the results at the Presidential Lodge Jalingo Taraba State Governor Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku thanked God for the mercies through out the periods of the campaign and the people of Taraba for their peaceful disposition in spite of all odds and obstructions and for being convinced that the PDP remained the party for them which has been on ground since 1999.
Governor Ishaku urged everyone to support the Party and pledged that all his programmes will continue and thanked the people of the State and those from outside for helping his Government to developed the State.
He appealed to the people of Taraba, particularly the youths not to start any bad attitude now that the Election was conducted peacefully and transparently saying that the new Government in the State will continue from where he stopped.
He maintained that the new Government will bring new people and called on Tarabans to give the new Government a chance and be prayerful for Taraba State to remained peaceful.
