Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, and his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, have been sworn in for their second term in office.

Recall that, Governor Mai Mala Buni in February 2023 has directed the Yobe state micro-finance bank to open branches across the 17 LGAs of the state. The statement came through Governor Buni’s media aide, Mamman Mohammed, as part of the centralized plan to ease the sufferings of rural dwellers by providing banking services to their doorstep.

Since the order in February, nothing has been done, no attempts visible towards engaging in the project that could be of relevance to the state at whole. It would ease the stress of travelling long risky distance by rural dwellers to make transactions and it would be a massive boost to the Government.

The establishment of local branches across the 17 LGAs of the state might come with challenges, nevertheless the Governor reiterated the supported of his administration towards the project.

The establishment of the local branches across the 17 LGAs would be of great relevance to the State, since it is owned by the state and under the state’s administration and control the entire profit will be redirected back to the state and it could be used for other projects.

However, Yobe Microfinance Bank Scales through the recent stage of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Assessment in which 132 Microfinance Banks losses operating license while 47 others were revoked license.

It would be beneficial to the state government if the state civil servants and local government worker’s salary be centralized to the microfinance bank, that will see a massive boost to the state in terms of revenue and greater level of patronage from the citizens.

The efforts will ease the financial activities of the business community, civil servants and the entire masses across the state, but after implementation efforts have to be directed towards proper planning and actualization for the benefits of the entire state.
