Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, is accused by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, an opposition party in the state for failing to stay in the state to handle its developmental issues.
The party said this in a statement seen by this reporter on Tuesday.
According to PDP, Gov. Buni is the most traveled governor in Nigeria.
Gov Buni was sworn in for his second term in office in may this year and as of the time of filling this report, the governor is confirmed to be in Abuja, the nations capital.
The party believes that the governor’s unstable presence in the state is undermining development and other challenges in the state.

The statement also added that the state’s debt profile has increased significantly under Buni and with no tangible development to account for it.
It noted that the debt profile has increased by 977.96 per cent, making the state the highest in debt profile.
‘’The state’s debt profile increased by N96.35 billion, from N9.85 billion in 2015 to N106.2 billion in June 2022,’’ the statement said.
“Indeed, in a state like Yobe State, which has the lowest Internally Generated Revenue IGR with a total of 4.031 million naira and which is recovering from the Boko Haram insurgency, the governor is occupied with renting a private jet and traveling to nooks and crannies of the nation, not for the benefit and development of the state but rather to manage the affairs of the APC and other personal affairs,’’ the party explained.
PDP says it is concern with the challenges hindering development in the State, hence, called on Gov Buni to prioritize his presence in the state for effective governance.
The party also raised concern over what they described as Educational Deficiency, Unemployment and Economic Empowerment, Agriculture and Food Security and Inadequate Infrastructure among others under Buni.
However, Buni was sighted on Tuesday attending his party the APC meeting for National working committee.
