The management of University of Maiduguri has said that all farmers that are farming within the premises of institution are enjoined to pay their ground rent permit.
The institution has set up a committee to oversee the compliance of the payment starting July 8.
In a press statement by Asmau Abba Jalo, a deputy registrar (legal) of the university who is the secretary of the committee, said that failure to comply will lead to revocation of the land.
The statement reads: ‘This is to inform all (s)taff and non(s)taff (f)arming on (the) (u)niversity’s land that they should endeavour to pay for the ground rent / permit for the 2023 farming season.
‘The Monitoring Committee will be going round from Saturday, 8th July 2023 to check for the evidence of payment on the farm. And those that did not pay will stand revocation’.
