In an efforts to woe investors to Taraba State, Governor, Agbu Kefas has hosted a delegation of the Chinese construction giant CCECC Nigeria Limited in Abuja.
The company, which has branch in Taraba state, is among the three construction companies handling the Mararaba-Baissa-Abong road in Kurmi Local Government of the State which was awarded by the previous administrations.
At an interactive session with the executives of the Company led by the Deputy Managing Director Jacques Liao the Governor promised to visit the Baissa road project which is important to the socio-economic growth of Kurmi LGA and the state.
The Governor commended the quality of work carried out by the company in other parts of the country and expressed the prospects of engaging the company in the near future to build a railway from Jalingo to Gembu to tap the tourism and other economic potentials of the Mambilla plateau.
Dr Agbu Kefas spoke on the possibility of reviewing the Baissa road contract to include drainages which are not part of the initial design considering the heavy rainfall in the area, adding that all road projects to be awarded by his administration must include drainages to ensure durability.
The Deputy MD of CCECC Nigeria Limited, Jacques Liao told the Governor that the company specializes in road construction, railway and airport, among other civil construction works and has been operating in Nigeria since 1991.
He said CCECC is the biggest construction company in West Africa reputed for executing quality work citing the completed Abuja- Kaduna railway line as one of the most important projects it has handled in the country.
Mr Liao said as part of its corporate social responsibility, the company has offered scholarships for degree programmes in top universities in China to many Nigerians including indigenes of Taraba State.
