Abubakar Badaru, also known as Mohammed Badaru Abubakar MON, hails from Babura town, a local government in Jigawa State, Nigeria. Born on the 19th of September 1962, he is currently 60 years old.
He holds a B.Sc degree in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and is an alumnus of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS). He’s a business mogul with investments spread across transports, Agriculture, trading and finance.
Abubakar has an impressive track record of professional accomplishments. He served as the Vice President II of the Federation of the West Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industries, as well as being a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria. Additionally, he has been a member of the National Council on Privatization and is presently serving as the National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture.
Furthermore, he holds significant responsibilities as the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fertilizer and the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Non-oil Revenue. Moreover, Abubakar is the owner of the Talamiz group of industries.
In the political sphere, he was a gubernatorial candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria, though he lost to Sule Lamido. However, he later contested and won the governorship of Jigawa State for two tenures under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015 and 2019. Notably, he was among the first few governors to express support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s aspiration for the Nigerian Presidency.
