Taye Ajokeb, a student at Mustapha Isa Agwai Polytechnic, who was kidnapped earlier this week, has been safely released after her parents paid a ransom of N300,000 to her abductors.

The ND II student was abducted alongside three other students during a night attack by armed gunmen.

The other victims are Freedom Luka, an HND I student of Public Administration; Ogwuche Janet, an HND II student of Business Administration and Management; and Danladi Nicholas, a student seeking admission into the Polytechnic.

Ekom Peter Ayaka, the President of the Students Union Government of the Institution, confirmed the release of Taye Ajoke, explaining that the abductors initially demanded a ransom of N50 million, which was later reduced to N500,000.

According to him, after negotiations and appeals, the kidnappers agreed to accept N300,000 for her release.

Ajoke was released around 7pm on Wednesday after the ransom was paid.

“We are grateful to God that Ajoke has been released by the bandits. She was released around 7pm on Wednesday after a ransom of N300,000 was paid.

“The kidnappers first demanded N50 million but later reduced it to N500,000 but later understood that their victim’s family and friends could not raise such an amount to collect the N300,000 after several appeals.”
