Gov Kefas releases three months salaries of TSU

Dr. Agbu Kefas, Taraba State Governor has ordered the immediate release of three months Salaries of staff of the Taraba State University, Jalingo from July to September 2023.

The Governor gave the order following a meeting with the Management and Union leaders of the University at the Exco Chamber Government House, Jalingo.

Addressing the management of the University, ASSU and other Union leaders including students leaders, the Governor condemned in totality the threat of strikes by the Unions saying that he inherited the outstanding salaries in the Institution which he is ever ready to address.

Kefas observed that addressing the payment of outstanding entitlements of the staff is not only a matter of financial responsibility but also a moral obligation of the Government to the educators.

He further explained that he understood the gravity of the situations and challenges confronting the Institution and acknowledged the contributions of the academic staff in shaping the future of the state through education.

Kefas identified dialogue and understanding as the only means of resolving the problems confronting the the University.

He described the academic staff as builders of dreams and guardians of the future of the younger generation and reiterated the commitment of his administration to prompt payment of salaries, pension, and gratuity and he is commitments to the implementation of the thirty thousand naira minimum wage by October.

He said the students are the heart and soul of the education system and urged them to focus on their studies.

Vice-Chancellor of Taraba State University Jalingo, Prof Sunday Bako commended the Governor for convening the meeting which is the first of its kind and for agreeing to offset three months’ Salaries of the Institution at once.

The Chairman of ASUU, TSU chapter, Dr Mbave Garba also lauded the sincerity of the governor in resolving issues that affect the welfare of staff and provision of conducive academic environment in the University.
