Yobe State Government has supported internally displaced persons, IDPs from Gurjaji Village with food and non food items.
Gurjaji, a village in Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State was on Tuesday attacked by an unknown terrorist killing one person and displaced many.
According to reports, the terrorists had burnt down almost 90% of the village.
In a statement on Thursday by Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, YOSEMA, the displaced people were taking refuge in 7 neighboring communities which includes, Maluri, Garin Ari, Zamba, Daddawel, Diffiyel, Zangaya and Fika.
According to YOSEMA, while assessment and validation are ongoing, about 146 households with over 1500 individuals registered and verified in Maluri Village received first line life-saving support.
‘Displacement and residing in the host community comes along with an additional burden to the host and depletion of existing household resource, this is worsened by the current inflation and hardship,’ the statement explained.
While other locations and profiling of the IDPs are ongoing, those in Maluri Village received the following good and non food items, Bag of Sorghum, bag of beans, vegetable oil, iodised salt and nylon mat.
Others are, buckets, plates, spoons, cups, water jug, detergents, soap, cooking pots, bowl, blankets and kettle.

She commiserated with the victims and urged them to be resilient as government is with them during theses trying moments.
Dr. Mohammed Goje, Executive Secretary of YOSEMA, assured other displaced persons in other locations to be patient as more support will reach them in due course as validation, profiling and resources mobilisation is ongoing concurrently.
