Governor of Taraba State Dr. Agbu Kefas has vowed to secure the State from all forms of criminalities and ensure that food is available to all the people of the State.
The governor disclosed this in an enlarged security council meeting comprising all heads of security agencies, members of the State Executive council and National Assembly members from the State, all graded Traditional rulers, top Govermment functionaries as well as members of the newly Constituted Food and Agricultural Sustainability Committee
at the auditorium of the office of the Wife of the Governor opposite the Muslim Council Secretariat in Jalingo.
Kefas, said the expanded Security Council meeting became imperative to deal with insecurity, hunger and unemployment bedeviling not only Taraba State but Nigeria as a whole.
He said his administration is determined to implement sustainable strategies to ensure that no one in the State goes to sleep hungry adding that
priority will be given to skills acquisition and empowerment programmes to the people, especially providing economic opportunies to the youths to contribute to the development of Taraba state.
The Governor stated that he will collaborate with the neighboring States to safeguard the territorial integrity of the state
noting that unity, good governance, and unwavering service to the people are non-negotiable in guiding the actions of his Government.
Governor Kefas said Local Government Administration will be revitalized to enable them function effectively to ensure decentralization of power and resources to the grassroots.
He said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has warned against hoarding of food commodities and vowed to deal decisively with those found in the acts to ensure food reaches those who need them most and emphasized the necessity for the establishment of State police for effective community policing to enhance security on the grass roots.
Security chiefs in the State the Military, Police, DSS and NSCDC briefed the gathering on the present Security situation in Taraba State and their efforts at containing them.
They disclosed that what makes their job difficult is the fact that bandits blend with the people making it difficult to apprehend them and expressed the need for collaboration with traditional institutions in the State to win the fight against insecurity and commended Governor Agbu Kefas for providing operational vehicles and logistics to their Agencies saying that the gestures were unprecidented.
some commissioners also took turns to brief the gathering on the road map to food security and prosperity as well as the gains of the Kefas-led administration in the State while
representative of the members of National Assembly from Taraba State, the State ALGON Chairman, the Aku Uka, and the Emir of Muri also added their voices.
During the meeting, the Governor inaugurated the Food and Agricultural Sustainability Committee and charged them to develop a strategy to maximize farming for
the Committee to add value to Agriculture one of the five-fingers Agenda of his administration.
The Chairman of the Committee, the Emir of Muri, Abbas Njidda Tafida thanked the Governor for the trust given to them and assured that they will deliver on their mandate and called on Tarabans to contribute their ideas and inputs for the success of the assignment.
