Hisbah arrests 14 suspects over alleged prostitution, use of illicit drugs in Yobe

The Yobe State Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ethical Re-orientation, through its Hisbah department, has arrested 14 suspects for alleged prostitution and use of illicit drugs.

The suspects were arrested during a recent raid carried out by the Hisbah police in collaboration with other security agencies in the Damaturu metropolis.

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Yusuf Hassan Yusuf, while parading the suspects to newsmen, said the accused comprised of nine females and five males.

He said the suspects were arrested as their immoral activities contradict the teachings of Islam.

Yusuf said some of the suspects would be handed over to security agencies for prosecution, while others would be taken to Islamic clerics for counselling.
