Yobe Spelling Bee: Lady gets appointment as Governor Buni receive winners

Governor Mai Mala Buni has received in audience the winners of the recently concluded Spelling Bee competition in his state.

He host them at the state government house, Damaturu, the state capital on Saturday.

The three winners are Khadija Modu Manga of Zaid Bin Thabit private school, Damaturu, Yusuf Haruna Mohammed of Government Day Junior Secondary School Kara, Potiskum and Umaira Haruna from Madina International Academy, Sabon Gari, Gashua, in Bade local government area of the state, who won first, second and third respectively.

They were presented to the governor by Dr. Mohammed Goje, executive secretary, Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, YOSEMA, who is also the host of the program.

During the occasion, the governor shower praises on the winners and called on them to embrace the culture of learning and education.

He said that the future of Yobe State and Nigeria at large depends on the younger ones and without education, they will be a liability on the nation rather than an asset.

Buni also extend gratitude to the host of the program, noting that their efforts in nurturing the younger ones through pursuing excellence is commendable.

He assured his government unrelenting support on educational programs and encourage the organizations to continue on that direction.

Similarly, a lady Fatima Jibirin Abdullahi has been given automatic appointment by the governor during the visit.

Fatima is National Certificate of Education (NCE) holder, and a voluntary school teacher at Government Day Junior Secondary School Kara, Potiskum, where the second place winner is hailed.

She is said to have mentored young Yusuf Haruna Mohammed to be among the winners.

In his remarks earlier, Dr. Goje thanked the governor for granting them audience and in his government’s commitment in promoting educational programs.

He said that Governor Buni has on many occasions emphasize on the importance of education, especially on the younger ones.
