Adamu Lawan Zaufanjinba has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to everyone who supported him during the grieving period following the passing of his mother, Hajja Fatima Lawan, who died on Thursday, June 25, 2024, at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
In a statement, Zaufanjinba extended his deep gratitude to Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima GCON, for taking time out of his busy schedule to offer his condolences.
He also thanked the Executive Governor of Borno State, His Excellency Babagana Umara Zulum mni, CON, for attending the burial, as well as the Executive Governor of Yobe State, H.E. Mai Mala Buni.
The presence of Deputy Governor of Borno State, Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur, Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Right Honorable AbdulKarim Lawan, and other principal officers of the assembly was also highly appreciated.
Zaufanjinba acknowledged the support of His Royal Highness, The Shehu of Borno, Alh. Dr. Abubakar Garbai El Amin El Kanemi, former Governor of Borno State, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, Mutawalli Kashim Ibrahim Imam, Chief Imam of Borno State, Imam Ibrahim Ahmed, and Imam Idayni of Borno.
He expressed eternal gratitude to royal fathers, including Their Royal Highness, the Etsu Nupe, Alh. Dr. Yahaya Abubakar, the Emir of Dass, Alh. Usman Bilyaminu Othman, and the Emirs of Gwoza, Uba, Biu, Askira, and Shani, for their support during this difficult time.
He extended his appreciation to distinguished Senators and Honourable members of the National Assembly from Borno, including Sen. Mohammed Ali Ndume, Sen. Mohammed Tahir Monguno, Sen. Kaka Shehu Lawan, Hon. Mallam Bukar Kareto, Hon. Bukar Talba, Hon. Zainab Gimba, Hon. Abdulkadir Rahis, Hon. Ahmed Satomi, Hon. Mukhtari Aliyu Betara, Hon. Ibrahim Abuna, and Hon. Usman Zannah Magumeri.
Zaufanjinba also recognized the presence of the All Progressive Congress, represented by Deputy National Chairman (North) Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori.
Zaufanjinba acknowledged his former colleagues in the Borno State Executive Council and their counterparts in Yobe, led by Arc. Ahmad Buba, along with the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, the Chief Medical Director of UMTH, and other senior academics from various tertiary institutions both within the state and across the country.
He expressed deep gratitude for the presence of his former colleagues at Zenith Bank Plc and the Borno State Ministries of Finance, Budget and Economic Development, Works and Transport, and Local Government and Emirate Affairs, where he served as Commissioner. He also extended his thanks to other professional friends and well-wishers from the banking industry, both within the state and across the country.
Zaufanjinba greatly appreciated the support from various clubs and associations that stood by his family during this trying time. He also acknowledged those who could not be present but made phone calls, sent messages via social media, or sent representatives, noting their concern and support from all walks of life and different corners of the state and country.
‘Your kind words and gestures have provided me with immense comfort and strength as I navigate the loss of my beloved mother. Please know that your support has made a significant difference in my journey through grief,’ he said.
He concluded by wishing those who traveled from far and near a safe journey back to their destinations.
