Three people have murdered a tricycle, also known as Keke-Napep driver in Maiduguri.

Two among them, Simon Buba and Anias Dauda, were paraded by the Borno State command of the Nigerian Police Force on Saturday, following their arrest on Tuesday 6th August.

However, the other accomplice, recognize only as James, is still on the run while the police are hunting for him.

Aged 20, the victim, also called James, was killed and buried by the three men at night.

His body was recovered two days after and handed over to his family for proper burial.

HOW IT HAAPPENED

In an interview with the arrested accomplices during the parade, they confessed to have killed James when they hired his service.

‘We asked him to take us to Shagari Lowcost but to follow through Dubai bypass. We stopped him along the way and James used his knife and stabbed him,’ one of them narrated.

According to them, their intention was only to confiscate the tricycle but James strike him down and also advised that they bury him.

‘We tried to sell the Keke-Napep the following day and it was priced at N1.2m but James insisted on N1.3m and we left with it.

‘The next day, we were called to bring the Keke again, that they are ready to pay the N1.3m. James was not around, so myself and Anias drove there not knowing it was a trap and we were caught and arrested by police,’ Simon said.

The police also noted that they received an intelligence tip that led to their arrest.
