Borno Gov Appoints NUJ Chairman As Spokesperson

The Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the appointment of the Borno State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Alhaji Dauda Iliya as his official spokesperson and Special Adviser on Media.

The appointment followed the demise of Mallam Isa Gusau who until his death in February 2024 served as the spokesperson for Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.

This is contained in a Press Release this Friday in Maiduguri, the Borno State Capital signed by his Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi.

Dauda Iliya who hails from Kwaya Kusar Local Government Area of Borno State is the current Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Borno State Chapter.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in English Linguistics from the University of Maiduguri and later obtained his master’s in Mass Communications from the same University in 2024.

Apart from attending numerous professional courses and trainings, he is also a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters.

Dauda Iliya has been a reporter for Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN covering Borno State.
