Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State has lost his Taraba South Sentorial bit to the National Assembly.
He lost the bit to his arch rival David Jimkuta of the All Progressives Congress APC.
Declaration the results, the returning officer Professor Solomon Adedeye of the Department of Agriculture Federal University Wukari said David Jimkuta polled 85,415 votes to defeat Governor Darius Ishaku who scored 45,708 votes while the SDP candidate Michail Magaji got 4,133 votes to trail in the third position.
David Jimkuta who intially lost to Danjuma Shiddi during the Primaries for the Southern Senatorial seat reclaimed the bit as the the APC candidate for the zone at the Federal Court of Appeal which declared him as the rightful candidate of the Party few weeks to the general elections.
On the contrary and on a positive note, Taraba State Deputy Governor Haruna Manu clinched the election for Taraba Central Senatorial Seat.
Manu defeated two other contenders Bashir Marafa Abba of the APC and Bobboi Bala Kaigama of the NNPP while Senator Shu’aibu Isa Lau of the PDP and incumbent Minority leader in the Senate was returned for Taraba North Senatorial Zone for the second term. He defeated Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi of the APC a former deputy and acting Governor of the State, Aminu A. Liman of the NNPP and Dame of the SDP.
On the whole Saturday’s election in Taraba State was conducted peacefully there was massive turnout of voters the elderly, women and Youths turned out on their numbers in most of the polling units across the State. There was also massive deployment of security men in all the polling units while others patrolled in vehicles to ensure the safety of Election Officials and voters which made the election very orderly and peaceful.
However, Military men on Patrol shot and killed one Abdulwahab Bello an official of the First Aid Group of the Jamma’atul IZalatul Bidi’a Wa’ikamatus Sunna JIBWIS at korofi bridge Jalingo Taraba State Capital.
Although the actual reason for the killing of the officer was not known but it was gathered that the military men stopped him while trekking across the bridge and was asked to go back but was shot while begging them to allow him past.
