Bisi Kazeem, public education officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Gombe, command who confirmed this also advised motorists to utilize alternate routes.

Kazeem said a culvert was washed away in Kalajaga, a village between Gombe and Bauchi State, making the road not unpliable.

‘According to a report gathered by our operatives from the field, there was a failed culvert at Kalajaga village.

‘This is 118 km Bauchi – Gombe road whereby the heavy rainfall washed away the culvert between Bauchi to Gombe, making the road not motorable.

‘The culvert is completely washed away and the road cut off and an alternative route is advised.’

However, he explained that their operatives are fully on ground controlling traffic and diverting vehicles at the affected section of the road and ensuring safety for all.

He advised motorists to take Abuja – Yola Road as alternative routes.

After the incident, Kazeem also said many passengers were left stranded.

However, this is not the first time the bridge is collapsing.
