Police arrest man for snatching woman’s phone in Jigawa

A 30-year-old housewife Halima Ya’u narrowly escaped death after a phone snatcher attacked her in Kadoma village, Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

According to source, the phone snatcher took advantage of her husband’s absence and sneaked into the house.

He said the attacker asked the woman to hand over her phone which she refused. He attacked her with a knife, inflicting cuts on her body and made away with the phone.

Police spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident.

According to him, “on 22/09/2023 at about 0400hrs, a distress call was received from Kadoma village Jahun LGA that an unknown person trespassed into the house of one Halima Yau attacked her with a knife which as a result she sustained injuries on her face and back and took away with her phone.”

He said on receiving the report, a team of policemen was mobilized to the scene where the suspect was arrested and the exhibit was recovered.

He said the suspect confessed to the commission of the offense and will be taken to court for prosecution after an investigation.
