The House of Representatives, on Tuesday, summoned the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, to appear before it.

The House wants the Minister to brief it on the status of the conditional cash transfer programme of the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government to 15 million households.

The summons is sequel to a motion of urgent public importance on Tuesday at the green chamber.

The House expressed worry over the handling of the programme, questioning the lack of transparency in it.

The minister is to give details on the collation of data and distribution of the funds.

It could be recalls that the President had in October launched the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer for 15 million households.

The humanitarian affairs minister had disclosed that the 15 million households represent 62 million Nigerians.

According to her, the sum of N25,000 would be transferred to the beneficiaries every month, for three months, which amounts to N75,000 for each of the beneficiaries.
