The member for Jalingo-Yorro-Zing in the House of Representatives from Taraba State, Sadiq Abbas Njiddah Tafida has pleaded for emergency repairs of the Jalingo–Numan Road in the Northeast following its deteriorating nature and the hardships faced by commuters plying the road.

Tafida recently elected on the Platform of the PDP in a bye Election expressed the dire need for urgent rehabilitation of the road during oversight visit by the House of Representatives Committee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to the Agency in Abuja.

He noted that the bad state of the Jalingo-Numan Federal Highway which was once a one and a half-hour journey from Jalingo to Numan and Yola now turned into a grueling three-hour ordeal.

The legislator said the significant increase in travel time because of the dilapidated Nature of the road has not only inconveniencing road users but also inflicting untold hardship to commuters.

Sadiq Tafida pledged to collaborate with the Managing Director of FERMA to devise strategies aimed at expediating the rehabilitation process for this essential road network which serves as a lifeline connecting multiple States in the Northeast region and linking them to the Eastern and Western parts of Nigeria.

The passion and desire exhibited by the National Assembly member for the urgent need for the repair of the Jalingo–Numan Road reflects his commitment to addressing the pressing infrastructure deficits facing his Constituency.

The initiative is a clarion call to prioritize the rehabilitation of key transportation routes to enhance mobility, foster economic growth and improve the overall quality of life for the citizens.

It is therefore imperative for relevant authorities to response passively to the urgent plea made by Hon. Sadiq Tafida by taking swift action to address the deplorable state of the Jalingo–Numan Road in Taraba and Adamawa States to alleviate the suffering of countless commuters traversing this vital route.

Contract for the rehabilitation of Jalingo-Numan Highway was awarded since the first tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari but work on the project stopped sooner than it started making the Federal Highway the worst in the entire Northern Nigeria that really requires urgent attention.
