Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas has condemned in strong terms all acts of criminalities in the State and vowed to deal with them ruthlessly.

The Governor said his Administration will deal decisively with those involved in all criminals acts no matter where they are happening in the State.

He said Security Agencies in the State are fully equipped to facilitate dealing with all trouble makers and sufficiently empowered to enforce law and order irrespective of who is involved.

Kefas who was reacting to recent attacks in southern parts of Taraba State said his administration has zero tolerance for violence and ethnic restiveness noting that tribes can live together in harmony if they are honest and have mutual respect for one another.

The governor said criminals killing in the name of any tribe are on their own and would be treated as violators of law and order.

“If any tribe has any issue, there are ways to go about settlement and not through taking the laws into their hands, there are dialogue machineries in place we have the justice departments, we have community leaders and elected leaders, these are avenues to settle scores, criminals are criminals and those hiding under the guise of seeking justice for their tribes by violent means shall be fetched out and dealt with” the Governor warned.

He said law enforcement agents have been fully briefed to deal with criminals of any kind warning that all tribal warlords advocating the use of force shall soon meet their Waterloo.

Governor Kefas said he has partnered with top echelon of the nation’s security architecture to support the State in the area of overall security stressing that his administration has continued to work with Local authorities, especially traditional rulers and Local Government Chairmen to arrest the situation.

“When we came in, they said I should just appoint Caretakers I said no we should have elections I gave the elected Chairmen their marching orders, I will hold them responsible for any breach of peace in their domains, I told them to work closely with traditional authorities we are equipping them with funding, vans, and other supports to help them secure their communities.” he maintained.

He said trans-border security has been tightened to stem the tide of intra-border encroachment of criminal elements from neighboring States and Country pointing out that Taraba State shares large boundary with the Republic of Cameroon.

Kefas stressed that the protection of lives and property of the citizens is his top most priority and assured the people of the State of his commitment to continue to deal with criminality in any part of the state.
