Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Yobe said it has resolved not to participate in the state’s 25th May 2024 local government elections.
The Party’s State Organizing Secretary, Mohammed Sulayman disclosed this at a press briefing on the development held in Damaturu, yesterday.

He said the decision not to partake in the upcoming election followed due consultation.

“It is also a known fact in the history of our Dear State Yobe, that Local Government Council elections have never been free, fair, credible, and impartial under the state commission since inception.

“We wish to state that, it is not in any way whatsoever going to be different this time”, he claimed.

The Organizing Secretary accused the State Independent Electoral Commission of deliberately refusing to notify political parties in the state about the schedule of activities with respect to the upcoming election.

“The outrageous cost enforced for the purchase of forms is calculated and deliberate to disfranchise the other political parties from participating in the election”, he alleged.

Recall that the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission has slated the 25th of May, 2024 as the date for the conduct of local government Councils’ election.
