Governor of Taraba State Dr. Agbu Kefas has reaffirmed his commitments towards ensuring the safety and security of lives and property of the people.
The Governor made this known at a reception at Rimi Primary School Takum on Saturday in honour of the new First-Class Chief of Takum, HRH Barr. Sopiya Ahmadu Gboshi III.
Kefas emphasized the need for unity, saying that the Takum Throne had been vacant for nearly three decades, causing division.
He Said that he presented the Staff-of-Office to the new Chief in Jalingo, respecting judicial procedures to promote peace and unity.
The Governor announced plans to aid those displaced by crises, launching endowment funds for rebuilding efforts in Takum and focusing on infrastructure, education, health, and empowerment initiatives for youth and women.
In his remarks, Chairman of the occassion General TY Danjuma revealed plans to establish a vocational School in Taraba State with assistance from the German Government to address unemployment and commended Governor Kefas for his adherence to due process in appointing the new First-Class Chief in Takum.
The Special Guesst of honour Edo State Governor, Dr. Godwin Obaseki, expressed optimism for peace and prosperity in Takum and Taraba State, while the Emir of Muri, Abbas Njiddah Tafida reaffirmed the support and loyalty of the Royal Fathers to the Administration of Governor Kefas.
In his address, the new First Class Chief of Takum’ HRH Barrister Sopiya Gboshi III called for unity and pledged to foster security and development in Takum.
The event featured cultural performances and was well attended.
