Gov Buni Constitutes Ten-Man Committee For New Minimum Wage

The Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has set up a ten-man Committee that would work out modalities for the successful implementation of the new national minimum wage recently approved by the Federal Government.

The Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam-Wali, is to chair the committee, while the Head of the State Civil Service, Mohammed Hamidu is to serve as the Co-Chairman.


According to a statement signed by the Head of the Civil Service, Mohammed Hamidu, the Commissioners for Finance, Mohammed Abatcha Geidam, Budget and Economic planning, Mohammed Gagiyo, Local Govt and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ibrahim Adamu Jajere and the State Accountant General are to serve as members.

Other Members of the committee include the Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state, Comrade Mukhtar Musa Tarabutu and Trade Union Congress, Bulama Musa while the Permanent Secretary Establishment, Shuaibu Ibrahim Amshi and that of Public Service Office of the Head of Service, Bukar Kilo are to serve as secretary and co-secretary respectively.

The ten-man committee will among other terms of reference workout modalities on the successful implementation of the new national minimum wage in the state.


The Committee will also determine the financial implication of the implementation of the new minimum wage at the State and Local Government levels in addition to making recommendations for Government consideration.
