Police Arrest Man For ‘Stealing 83 Laptops’ From JAMB ICT Centre In Kebbi

The Kebbi police command says its operatives have arrested one Abubakar Ismail for allegedly stealing 83 laptops.

Ismail, identified as the site manager of the Kebna Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) ICT centre in Kebbi state, was said to have stolen the laptops from the centre.

Ahmed Kontagora, commissioner of police in Kebbi, announced the development in a statement on Tuesday.

Kontagora said the suspect sold the laptops off at the cost of N40,000 each, adding that 76 of the laptops have been recovered.

“On the 20th November, 2022 at about 0900hrs, the manager, Kebna ICT JAMB Centre, Zuru, one Dr. Michael Ezra Dikki, reported at the divisional police headquarters, Zuru, that on the same date at about 0830hrs, he visited the centre where he discovered that one Abubakar Ismail, the site manager, had stolen eighty-three (83) pieces of HP laptops, belonging to the centre, took them to one Chukwudi P. Otutu of Otutu computer centre, Sokoto town, Sokoto state, and sold each one at the cost of forty thousand naira (N40,000),” the statement reads.

“On receipt of the complaint, a team of Policemen swung into action and succeeded in arresting the suspect and recovered seventy-six (76) pieces of the said stolen laptops.

“Investigation is in progress and the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.”
