Things To know Before Using Motorcycle In Yobe

Governor of Yobe State Mai Mala Buni has lifted the ban on the use of motorcycles in zone B and zone C which are the northern and southern parts of the state, which are Fika, Fune, Nangere, Potiskum, Bade, Nguru Jakusko, Machina, Karasuwa and Yusufari.

The Governor said the decision for the restoration is in fulfilment of his campaign promises.

Gov Buni made the announcement on Monday with immediate effect during a solace visit to Nguru, a local government area of the state, over the fire outbreak that demolished a market

Motorcycles were banned in Yobe state by the government to curb the insecurity caused by deadly terror group, Boko Haram.

The ban was lifted with instructions attached to it, which are as follows.

• Motorcycle are to operate between 6am and 6pm daily.

• Motorcycle are not to be used for commercial used

• Only a rider will be allowed without any other person on the motorbike.

• There must be a proper registration, licensing, and documentation of all motorbikes and riders in the affected LGAs by the Yobe State Road Traffic Management Agency (YOROTA)

• All Motorcycle are to operate within their respective LGAs only.

• Any motorbike rider that convey passenger will be sanctioned in accordance with extant rules and regulations.

• There will be no Inter-local government area movement with motorbikes, and anyone found violating this rule should be appropriately sanctioned.

At last the governor urge all Security Agencies to monitor and ensure strict compliance with the directives.
