Borno state being located in the Northeast Nigeria has been in existence since 1976 when the former North-Eastern State was broken up. Borno state has a population of about 5.86 million people from different ethic groups, for these reasons museum is relevant for preservation of culture and history as things are gradually changing.

Therefore, the Borno state council for Arts and culture museum being located in Maiduguri the capital city of Borno, was not established just for keeping and displaying of historical artifacts as the purpose of museums are generally perceived, it was established also for the preservation, exhibition, promotion and research of the antiquities as well as the contemporary art works, crafts and other historical artifacts of the people of Borno State.
The Borno state museum is a significant coatsmponent in the state if put in to use, it will help in promoting the development of the state and the nation at large. It can be use for cultural education, which will help promote peaceful and Harmonious living among the different ethic groups in the state, it can also aid economical development through reactivation of rural handicrafts. The Borno state museum is of relevance in the state.
The Executive secretary of the Borno State Council of Arts and Culture Mr Abdul Inusa said people hardly visit the museum except on assignments or project. He said it is expected since there are number of higher institutions in the state, there will be many students visiting the museum but instead the museum hardly smells the presence of the youths
As a matter of fact people hardly noticed or pay attention to the museum even though it is located in the heart of Maiduguri at open air theater. This is because people do not know the value of the museum.
To crown it all, if you live in Maiduguri or visiting, make effort to visit the Borno state museum, it is rich and full of amusement. There is so much knowledge stored in the museum. The museum helps us understand and respect the culture of one another, it will widen your horizon. And as it is said no knowledge is a waste.
