A 12-year old girl was slaughtered by suspected robbers in Maiduguri according to Yerwa Express News.

The girl, Hadiza Mohammed, was slaughtered at home when the criminals robbed her house located at Bulumkutu on Sunday morning at about 2:00 am.

The father of the Victim, Mohammed Hamma Jam, said he went to mosque with the victim’s mother to pray Tahajjud, a Muslims’ midnight prayer, when the incident occurred.

He said the thieves slaughtered his daughter after they robbed the house and stole many valuables, including phones and money.

‘Before we went out to the mosque, she told me that she wanted to come with us but I told her to stay at home and look after her younger siblings.

‘I convinced her to stay at home by giving her my phone to play with,’ he explained.

He suspected that the criminals most likely were people familiar to him and may have been aware that he was not at home when they struck, he also suspected that they killed Hadiza because it was possible she recognized them.

When the victims father returned home after the prayer at around 3:00 am, he found the girl lying in her own pool of blood, but she was still alive.

‘We first rushed her to the State Specialist Hospital and then to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital but she died while receiving treatment, he added.

Investigation by the police shows that the criminals used a knife they found in the house to commit the crime.

Hadiza was since buried according to Islamic injunctions on Sunday.
