Police investigating man after ‘detaining wife for one year’ in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command says it has commenced investigation into the alleged illegal detention of one Sadiya by her husband, Ibrahim Bature at their residence in the Nguru area of Yobe State for one year.

According to source, Sadiya, a mother of four, survived throughout the period by eating only pap.

Hadiza, the mother of the victim, according to the source, who had not seen her daughter for a long time, travelled from Kano to their residence in Nguru community, and rescued her.

DSP Abdulkarim Dungus, the State Police Public Relations Officer, when contacted, confirmed that the command had commenced an investigation into the matter.

He also confirmed that the Divisional Police Officer in Nguru invited the husband to help in the investigation, assuring that the wife is receiving treatment in a hospital in Kano.
