In response to recent developments within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), concerning the assertion by the North Central Zone regarding the appointment of the next National Chairman, the Concerned PDP Youth, led by Tahir Ahmed Muhammad, emphasizes the importance of adhering to the rule of law within the party.

Tahir Ahmed Muhammad, representing the voice of the Concerned PDP Youth, underscores the fact that Amb. Iliya Umar Damagum, the current Acting National Chairman, never contested for the seat of National Chairman. Instead, as the Deputy Chairman North, he automatically assumes the role of Acting Chairman according to party law.

“It’s crucial to clarify that Damagum didn’t vie for the position of National Chairman,” states Tahir Ahmed Muhammad. “As per party law, the Deputy Chairman North steps in as Acting Chairman in the event of a vacancy. This is not a matter of personal preference but a legal mandate within the PDP.”

Furthermore, Tahir Ahmed Muhammad emphasizes the importance of upholding the rule of law within the PDP, stating, “Allow the rule of law to work, as PDP is always guided by law. It’s imperative that the party operates within the framework of its constitution and legal provisions.”

The Concerned PDP Youth urges all stakeholders within the party to respect and uphold the principles of legality and fairness. They advocate for transparency and adherence to due process in all party decisions and appointments.

As the PDP navigates through this period of transition, the Concerned PDP Youth, under the leadership of Tahir Ahmed Muhammad, remains committed to promoting the rule of law, fostering unity, and advancing the democratic ideals of the party. They call upon all members to uphold the values of justice, equity, and adherence to constitutional provisions for the betterment of the PDP and Nigeria as a whole.
