The untimely changes in the Jamb saver, Authoboot browser etc has led to a massive glitch nationwide which will make hundreds and thousands of candidates lose out of the 2023 exercise.

It’s always shameful and pitiful that some public office dignitaries in a country like Nigeria will always strive to make thing hard for its citizens and professor Ishaq Olarewaju Oloyede, the registrar and chief executive of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has joined the trend.

JAMB under Ishaq  remitted  N52billion, due to measures put in place on “cost control, prevention of financial leakages and minimisation of financial corruption.” which is the cumulative return of the previous 40 years of the board.
Even though, a source revealed that, Prof. Ishaq was assured of the perfect functioning of the saver by his team of experts, yet he was woefully disappointed.

As an academia astute and applaud professor, who was assumed to have changed the narrative of the JAMB board is not expected to make such a gaffe. tempering the longtime used saver, that is used to conduct the annual exam should not be taken for granted or examining its consequence.

Education has not been prioritized in Nigeria even when it’s used to score points during elections. JAMB had recorded massive achievements under the leadership of Professor Ishaq, but then, they will record the worst exercise in 2023.

Former Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, his wife Beatrice and Doctor Obinna Obeta have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in the organ harvesting charges brought against them by a UK court.

The former deputy senate president was jailed for Nine years and eight months while his wife received four years and six months sentence in prison.

The couple and medical “middleman” Dr Obeta, 50 received 10 year prison term.

The trio were found guilty in the Old Bailey in March.

The Ekweremadus’ daughter Sonia, who has a serious kidney condition, wept as she was cleared of the same charge.

At a sentencing hearing on Friday, Ekweremadu was jailed for nine years and eight months, his wife Beatrice was sentenced to four years and six months imprisonment while Obeta received a 10-year prison term.

Mr Justice Johnson told the defendants: “In each of your cases, the offence you committed is so serious that neither a fine nor a community sentence can be justified.”

It was alleged that the 21-year-old street trader was to be rewarded for donating the organ to Sonia Ekweremadu in an £80,000 private procedure at London’s Royal Free Hospital.

The case marked the first time defendants have been convicted under the Modern Slavery Act of an organ harvesting conspiracy.

The prosecution claimed the donor was offered up to £7,000 and promised a better life in the UK.

The donor did not understand until his first appointment with a consultant at the hospital that he was there for a kidney transplant, the Old Bailey was told.

MAIDAWAAREWA reports that the decision was made during an emergency management meeting held in Abuja over the weekend, according to minutes made available to our correspondent on Monday.

“The Board would be releasing the results of candidates, who have taken the examination so far on Tuesday, 2nd May, 2023. The Board had delayed the release to ensure that all necessary screening are concluded besides ensuring that the mean and standard deviation are reasonably obtained before releasing these results.

“As candidates check their results on Tuesday, 2nd May, 2023, those who sat the examination but had challenges without being aware of such, would not see their results but would instead see their notification for rescheduled examination,” it said.

Additionally, the board has scheduled mop-up examinations for three categories of candidates who missed their original exams.

“All candidates, who could not sit the 2023 UTME within their scheduled time owing to no fault of theirs, would be rescheduled to take the examination on Saturday, 6th May, 2023.
