Tinubu Sure Of 40 Million Women Votes – APC Women Leader Betta Edu

0

The APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been assured of getting 40 million votes even as he is declared hale and hearty to cover more grounds daily to campaign for his election next year.

APC National Women Leader Dr Betta Edu made this statement in Calabar while speaking about the national tour by Tinubu and concerns raised about his state of health and ability to finish his campaign exercises before the actual election in February next year.

“Our Presidential candidate is holding rallies back to back; he is holding long hours of consultative meetings till as late as 3 am. His mental energy and physical strength are fit enough. He is super excited, very strong and very ready to bring good governance to Nigeria even as he intensifies his national tour,” she said.

Edu claimed that the APC flagbearer is the most popular candidate going by the mammoth crowds that welcomed him in Niger and Kaduna states in the last two days.

“Mammoth crowd of supporters converged on the Trade Fair Complex, Minna, venue of the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign rally in Niger State on Wednesday to receive the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Such a crowd had also welcomed him in Kaduna a few hours before,” she said.

Speaking further, Edu reiterated that 40 million Nigerian women votes are already a ‘done deal’ for Tinubu.

I’ll Entertain No Excuses From INEC, Says Buhari

0

President, Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday in Washington DC, said he has given the Independent National Electoral Commission the required resources for the smooth conduct of the 2023 elections.

On this basis, the President said he would not entertain any excuses from the electoral umpire on the basis of funds shortage.

“I made sure they were given all the resources they asked for because I don’t want any excuses that they were denied funds by the government,” Buhari said in response to a question on INEC’s readiness for the 2023 elections at an interactive session titled, ‘A conversation with President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria’.

According to a statement signed on Saturday by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the event was co-hosted by the United State Institute of Peace, the International Republican Institute, the National Endowment for Democracy, and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems.

The statement is titled At USIP, President Buhari says Nigeria’s agricultural revolution created over 13m jobs in seven years.

Buhari said INEC is ready “because I made sure they were given all the resources they asked because I don’t want any excuses that they were denied funds by the government.”

Police Rescued 865 Kidnap Victims And Arrested 383 Suspects In 2022 – IGP

0

The Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Usman Baba-Alkali said the Nigeria Police rescued 865 kidnap victims and arrested 383 suspects between January and November.

Mr Baba-Alkali said this on Thursday in Abuja during a meeting with strategic police managers, consisting of officers from the rank of Commissioner of Police (CP) and above.

He said a total of 923 armed robbery suspects, 335 murder suspects and 473 suspected cultists were also apprehended within the period under review.

Mr Baba-Alkali said the approval for the establishment of Nigeria Police National Cybercrime Centre had enhanced cybercrime investigation capacity of the police, leading to the arrest of 478 cybercrime suspects.

He said the centre established with the support of the CBN, had witnessed the deployment of highly trained police cyber crime operatives.

The police boss said the INTERPOL had continued to deploy tools to monitor and apprehend transnational criminal fugitives.

He said a total of 1,125 assorted firearms and 10,653 assorted calibre of ammunition were recovered during internal security operations in the period under review.

Mr Baba-Alkali said his men also apprehended 696 terror elements, bandits and secessionists with 284 pipeline vandals across the country.

The police boss said the meeting was convened to evaluate the performance of the force in the outgoing year and dissect operational challenges in relation to policing mandates.

He said it was also to review and perfect election security governance plans ahead of the 2023 general elections and collectively set policing goals for 2023.

According to him, the outgoing year presented sets of security challenges which at some point evolved to threaten the security order and national cohesion of the country.

“Some of these threats relate to flashes of violent campaigns by terrorists and bandits in the northern geopolitical zones and violent secessionist activities in the South-East and adjoining states by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB),

“Others are the Eastern Security Network (ESN) and other pockets of factions of IPOB all of which were bent on engaging non-constitutional means to threaten the legitimacy of government at all levels.

“Other highly organised crimes that the Force had to grapple with in the outgoing year include kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, illegal firearms trafficking and proliferation, cybercrime, gender-based violence and other transnational crimes,” he said.

The police boss said the force was able to overcome the threats with the review of its operational strategies, acquisition of new, specialised operational assets, enhanced intelligence capacity and more purposeful police-community relations framework.

Nigeria Needs Investors Like Atiku – Reno Omokri

0

Former aide to ex president Goodluck Jonathan, Pastor Reno Omokri, has said that Nigeria needs a leader who is honest, broad minded and capable of correcting what he described as the eight years of misery plunged on the nation by the current administration.

Omokri also said that the only candidate who can deliver this for Nigeria is the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

Omokri noted this in his 66th series on why he believes Atiku is the right choice for Nigerians.

According to him, among the major contenders for the presidency, only Atiku is free from any form of indictment or conviction for corruption.

He said this goes a long way to show that Atiku is the best and most qualified for the post of Nigeria’s president.

His statement reads thus:

“Day 66 of Why Should I Vote Atiku: Nigeria needs a honest, broad minded, and capable leader in 2023 to give us a course correction away from the eight locust years of setback that the All Progressives Congress has put us through. But which candidate meets these standards?

“Certainly not Bola Tinubu. Tinubu cannot be our President.

What about Peter Obi? This is a man who was proven to have broken the law. Mr. Obi does not the leadership criteria.

Waziri Atiku Abubakar is unarguably Nigeria’s most investigated politician, courtesy of his political opponents, and rivals in power. Yet, despite millions of dollars of public funds, and thousands of hours devoted to investigating him, NOTHING untoward has been established against him. He has not been indicted or convicted for any crime.

That is because he meets the standards of leadership. And it is for this reason that I invite you and your friends and families to vote Waziri Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

Please join me for another reason to vote Atiku tomorrow, God sparing my life.

Also, Omokri, in his 67th series, said Nigeria needs investors at this critical moment of her economy.

The bestselling author equally noted that Atiku is just that perfect investor that Nigeria needs.

He said thus:

“Day 67 of Why Should I Vote Atiku: Nigeria needs investors and not exploiters. An investor is a person who goes into business to create tangible value for a community, before making profits. Peter Obi, by being the single largest importer of foreign goods into Nigeria is an exploiter, because his business model destroys Nigerian manufacturers.

For example, Dangote’s tomato paste factory in Kano had to close shop due to massive importation of cheaper foreign tomato paste from Europe. Guess who is behind that importation? Peter Obi. And he expects the millions of Kano people affected by his exploitation to vote for him?

Because of importers, like Peter Obi, Nigeria spends billions of dollars importing things we can produce locally, like toothpicks, champagne, wines, tomato paste, wheat based products, sugar, etc. Almost everything at his Next Cash and Carry is imported. Yet, he wants to move Nigeria from consumption to production?

Bola Tinubu also does not produce anything in Nigeria. He claims he inherited his money from real estate. Even if this suspicious claim is true, how does that contribute to the Nigerian economy?

Nigeria’s currency and economy can only grow if we produce what we consume. In other words, we must become a prosumer nation. That is why Waziri Atiku Abubakar manufactures made in Nigeria products, and grows food items in Nigeria, employing 13,500 Nigerians in the process.

He grows rice, maize, wheat, mangoes and oranges, to mention just a few. By his private enterprise, he is committed to achieving food security and food self sufficiency for Nigeria.

Now, imagine what he would do as your president, since he does this privately.

That is why I urge you and your family and friends to vote Waziri Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party on Election Day, Saturday, February 25, 2023. As one we can get it done.

Please join me for another reason to vote Atiku tomorrow, God sparing my life.

Police Arrest Notorious IPOB Commander ‘Bongo’ In Ebonyi

0

The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested the State Commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB/ESN) Sunday Ubah a.k.a Bongo.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chris Anyanwu, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Abakaliki. According to Anyanwu, the hoodlums were tracked down and pursued along Agba-Isu road on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. He further disclosed that a couple of police operatives sustained minor bullet injuries while two of the hoodlums were neutralized while others escaped with various degrees of bullet injuries.

The statement read in parts: “Ebonyi State Police Command has again swooped on one of the biggest and most notorious camps of the IPOB/ESN located at Obegu, a boundary area between Onicha-Isu and Ishielu LGAs of Ebonyi State.

“The invasion of the criminals’ den was necessitated by an earlier encounter between operatives of the Command’s Tactical Teams, sequel to credible information gathered that the hoodlums were operating/wreaking havoc in the state with a Toyota Sienna space bus which they robbed at gunpoint from the owner within Ishielu axis.

“A quick trail and joint effort with a team of detectives attached to Ohaukwu Division led to the arrest of Sunday Ubah a.k.a Bongo, the State Commander of the IPOB/ESN in Ebonyi State. The miscreant who gave revealing pieces of information about the activities and modus operandi of the criminals, initially claimed that he is their PRO and native of Umunnochi in Isuikwuato LGA, Abia State. However, a scrupulous investigation aided by his antecedents/profile with the Police Command proved that he is a native of Obegu, Onicha LGA of Ebonyi State and indeed the factional commander of the outfit in Obegu.

“During the gun duel that ensued while the hoodlums were tracked down and pursued along Agba-Isu road on Wednesday 14/12/2022, a couple of Police operatives sustained minor bullet injuries while two of the hoodlums were neutralized, one (the commander) apprehended while others escaped with various degrees of bullet injuries. As a follow-up, a joint team of the Command’s Tactical Teams, the Military and DSS, armed with credible information courtesy of the suspect, swooped on the houses/residences of the Commander and others.”

Why God Did Not Allow Buhari To Die – Femi Adesina

0

Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, on Friday said God “must have considered all the virtues” his principal possesses, thus decided to “spare him”.

MAIDAWAAREWA reports that paying tribute to his boss who clocks 80 on Saturday in his weekly column, Adesina said God has been merciful to Buhari who has been “in and out of the country many times, attending to his health”.

“I’m sure God must have considered all the virtues Muhammadu Buhari has, and thus decided to spare him. He that has clean hands will grow stronger and stronger, says the Good Book. (Job 17:9).

“This Buhari not only has clean hands, he also has a clean heart.

“Imagine year 2017, when the President had severe health challenges. Between January and August of that year, he was in and out of the country many times, attending to his health. He could have been a goner, but God said no. And God has the final say, no matter what man may wish or desire. And same Buhari is now 80. Simply amazing! Glory be to God.

“By the grace of God, in another five months, the President will land safely. And he will take his well deserved rest, playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren in his Daura hometown. He’s the man God has shown mercy,” Adesina wrote.

Yobe Govt To Relocate Damaturu Timber Market

0

The Yobe Geographic Information Service (YOGIS) said that the Damaturu Timber Market will be relocated to relieve traffic congestion in the city.

Alhaji Usman Geidam, the spokesman of the agency, announced this while speaking with newsmen on Friday in Damaturu.

He said the agency had concluded arrangements to move the market to Pompomari area from its current location at Sabonlayi area, in the heart of the city.

Geidam said the agency had already informed the management of the market about the well-thought-out decision at a recent meeting.

“The meeting was chaired by Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf, YOGIS Director, Town Planning, other management staff, and the Art, Craft, and Timber Vendors Association.

“He told the vendors about the government’s intention to ease congestion and expand the Damaturu metropolis.”

He went on to say that the administration of Gov. Mai Mala Buni is particularly interested in infrastructure development and commercial activities on the outskirts of the city.

“The vendors expressed their support for the move and pledged to give the government all the necessary cooperation,” the spokesman said.

He said YOGIS, with support from Buni, had enhanced land administration and management by blocking all forms of irregularities in the sector.

Russia Launches Fresh Missile Attacks On Ukrainian Cities

0

At least three Ukrainian cities including Kyiv, the capital, have reported explosions from yet another Russian missile attack.

As many as 60 Russian missiles were seen heading for different targets, Sky News quoted an Ukrainian official as saying.

Air raid sirens sounded all across Ukraine on Friday morning with civilians directed to head to shelters as “the attack on the capital continues”.

Southern Kryvyi Rih and northeastern Kharkiv also reported attacks from the missile.

So far, two deaths and at least five wounded people including two children have been confirmed in Kryvyi Rih.

Kyrylo Tymoshenko, a top official in President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office, also reported a strike on a residential building in the city, warning that “there may be people under the rubble”.

Power shutdowns have been also been witnessed across the country as some of the missiles have reportedly struck energy facilities in several regions.

Vladimir Putin, Russia’s president, had earlier threatened nuclear retaliation should Western countries continue to interfere in the crisis with Ukraine.

Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, Europe’s largest, fell under Russian control in the early days of the war.

The first major power outage in the plant was in August with Ukraine narrowly escaping a nuclear disaster.

Analysts have claimed that such strikes targeting energy infrastructure are part of a new Russian strategy to freeze Ukrainians into submission.

Putin had said the war would not end till he achieves his goal of “demilitarising and de-Nazifying Ukraine”.

Air Chief Urges Military To Defend Democracy

3,063

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao has charged members of the Armed Forces to defend democracy, irrespective of their political opinion.

Mr Amao stated this at a regimental dinner in honour of graduands of Junior Course 95 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji in Kaduna State.

“Being mindful of the upcoming General Elections in Nigeria, I have chosen to share my thoughts with you on the “Role of Military Officers in Sustaining Democracy”.

“Therefore, all members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, including you graduating students of Junior Course 94 are duty bound to defend democracy, irrespective of your political opinions.

“I must mention that the Armed Forces Act, Section A.20 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, charges all military personnel to be apolitical.

“Showing absolute loyalty to the Commander-in-Chief and being subservient to constituted authorities, civil or military,” Amao said.

He also reeled out the roles of the military in sustaining democracy.

“Your roles in sustaining democracy encompass all due diligence in respecting and obeying constitutional laws and authorities.

“You must obey every law of the land and subject yourselves to civilian authorities.

“In so doing, you must heed lawful orders and instructions from your commanding officers and superior officers in line with established laws and customs,” the CAS said.

Mr Amao explained that the military has a huge role to play in providing a peaceful atmosphere necessary for the success of the February 2023 elections.

“Therefore, as the general elections approach, please be careful that you are not enticed by politicians to mar the electoral process or engage in any political activity.

“This is not acceptable and will certainly compromise democracy. As military personnel, you are not expected to make any political statements or avail yourself or your men as campaign tools to politicians.

“Hence, you must be apolitical and unreservedly patriotic to ensure a credible and peaceful process.

“This is very important because it is officers within your cadre that would be deployed on the fields to lead men in furtherance of our constitutional mandate of providing military aid to civil authority.

“Such duties will not only require your absolute dedication but also your leadership abilities,”Amao further said.

The CAS appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari’s support to the armed forces, which enabled it to thrive despite numerous challenges.

He told the graduating students that the dinner was to promote the much-required camaraderie to foster a disciplined workforce essential for combat readiness.

“You are to ensure that you show good example both in conduct and character at all times,” he added.
