Youths Will Set The Agenda For Tinubu If He Becomes President, Says Yahaya Bello

0

The governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, says youths will set the agenda for Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), if he becomes president.

Tinubu is being touted by his supporters as the governor who laid the foundation for modern Lagos.

Bello spoke on Tuesday at the Blueprint Annual Public Lectures and Impact Series/Awards in Abuja.

The governor said the youth would set the agenda for Tinubu if elected president because they “own the future”.

“Today we have the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, in the person of Bola Tinubu you can hate him, but you cannot take his achievements and successes away,” he said.

“He has touched the majority of all the candidates we have today.

“As Nigerian youths, we will be setting an agenda for our next administration, the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, because the youths own the future.

“Our number one role is to elect, vote for that leader who you know to be able to ensure fair and equitable administration. If we elect a criminal, if you elect a liar, if you elect those who will only come to fill their pockets it will amount to nothing.”

The governor said Tinubu is that leader who would turn the fortunes of the country for good.

According to him, the discourse on the Muslim-Muslim ticket is a sentiment to divide “the country and put us on a different trajectory that will make it difficult for us to unite this country”

Bello was awarded the 2021 “Politician of the Year”.

With his closed-door meeting with some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, would redraw the political map of the country in line with the national interest, the Peter Obi Support Network said on Tuesday.

Obi had several meetings with the PDP leaders, including Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and other key stakeholders of the party as preparations for the 2023 election thickens.

The POSN Director of Strategic Communication, Onwuasoanya Jones, in a statement, praised Obi “for building bridges of understanding beyond partisan leanings.”

He said, “The visit is part of the steps being taken by the former governor of Anambra State to redraw the political map of the country, in line with the people’s interest.

“I can confirm to you that there are key members of the PDP and the All Progressives Congress who are major supporters of the New Nigeria project as being piloted by Peter Obi. I will not give you names, but I can assure you that strategic discussions are ongoing among Nigerian patriots across party divides to rescue Nigeria from an imminent collapse, and there is already a consensus among every patriotic Nigerian that Peter Obi is the vehicle to actualise this goal.”

According to him, Nigerians should not expect any quick conclusion to the ongoing consultations, “as some of the discussions would continue until few days to the election.”

Jones said, “Nigerians should rest assured that all those who truly have the interest of the country at heart and really want her to be rescued from the grip of bad governance are uniting behind the Obi candidacy, and these people come from different political parties and regions of the country.

“Obi is redrawing the Nigerian political map around patriotism, rather than partisanship. This is no time for political correctness but a time for patriotic sacrifice for the survival of our country. And it is gladdening that Peter Obi is found worthy by many Nigerians to lead this peaceful revolution for the rebirth of our nation.”
