God Has Endorsed Tinubu’s 2023 Presidency, Says Akeredolu

0

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu says there is a divine backing of APC presidential standard bearer Bola Tinubu’s ambition ahead of the 2023 general elections.

“What we believe and stand by is that since we started this republic in 1999, we have been rotating power from North to South, and for us, by that rotation, this is the time of South,” the Ondo governor declared and insisted power should shift to the South, parroting Mr Tinubu’s now infamous ’emi lokan’ outburst.

“This is our time, and nobody is going to take it. ‘Awa lokan’; wonderful theme for this time. When the theme was chosen, I’m sure nobody was thinking about ‘Emi lokan’ or anything,” Mr Akeredolu noted. “But it is just by coincidence. God has spoken through Agape that this is our time. I thank you, Agape.”

The governor disclosed this on Sunday at the Agape International Church 34th Annual Convention in Akure. The theme of the convention was ‘This is my time’.

He emphasised that the people had always lived together in harmony despite their religious differences in the past.

“We have (a) very interesting coincidence here. Today, we have Her Excellency Omolewa, wife of (the) former governor of Kwara, here. I have known her to be a true Christian, (a) very true one, leading the altar in her home, in a home where the husband is also a true Muslim,” said the governor during the service.

Mr Tinubu and his running mate, Kassim Shettima, are Muslims, making many Nigerians, including APC chieftains, condemn the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket.

“There are many people here that have both Muslims and Christians as family members, and there is no quarrel. Religion should not bring quarrels among us, and that is where we stand,” Mr Akeredolu told the congregants.

The governor commended the church leadership for complying with the government’s directives on installing CCTV cameras in worship centres and other public places.

Nigerian Army Lacks Modern Equipment To Fight Terrorists – Ndume

0

Senator Ali Ndume has said the Nigerian Army is finding it difficult to solve security challenges in different parts of the country because it doesn’t have modern equipment required to fight terrorism.

Ali Ndume disclosed this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

He said, “I will say it again, the purpose of government is security and welfare of the citizens. The Nigerian Army doesn’t have the number. They don’t have the equipment; they don’t have the technology that is required to solve or handle these challenges we have.

“The earlier we prioritise this seriously and even declare a kind of state of emergency in the areas of security and welfare of citizens the better for us because that is what the government is all about.

“The constitution is very clear that the purpose of government is security and welfare of its citizens. The earlier the government and people of Nigeria in all the arms of government concentrate on making sure that our country is secure and our citizens welfare is taken care of, the better for us.

“I will say again that Nigerian army I know is up to the task if given what they need. And if they are given what they need, they should be given timeline.”

He said terrorists released the victims of Kaduna-bound train attack because they were settled.

He added, “As for the action taken by the army, that is an action expected of them but that goes to show in total that if the army has the number, the modern equipment that they require, they can tackle this problem within the shortest possible time.”

Tuchel-Conte faceoff in North London Derby

0

The North London Derby proved to be an interesting match between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea FC.

Much pressure was triggered in the first half to weak Conte’s side.

It was a magnificent evening for three Chelsea debutants as Koulibaly slot in a fine volley from Cucurella’s fine cross, which was the first of the four goal thriller.

Raheem Sterling proved to be an opportunist once again after providing a subtle pass to assist Reece James goal.

Few changes ensued that Tottenham come from behind to share equal points. Harry Kane’s last minute equaliser was decisive as complaints was made on a potential foul on Cucurella moment before the corner kick.

It was a hard, coerce and hard fought game as the two managers both earned a yellow during their fierce faceoff in the sidelines.

Unbelievable Erling Haaland stat in City’s game against Bournemouth

Gurdiola’s city triumph yet again in a magnificent 4 goal thriller that saw them scoring all the goals to themselves in the match against Bournemouth.

It was quite a spectacular display and haaland once again in the spotlight though this time not a very stat, better still he did it beyond all odds.

The promising city striker had a bitter experience but still managed to get his name on board after providing an assist in city’s triumph.

City stands clear on top of the table with goal difference clear off Arsenal, but it was quiet obvious as haaland had only 9 touch within the span of the game time yet pull off an assist.

The stat is quiet unbelievable, having 9 touch an coming of clear to assist. He manage to work it out despite the difficulty.

Neymar is determined to pull the strings

0

Having made 8 goal contributions so far is enough to see Neymar as determined to pull the strings and okey to say that he is a threat.

PSG has had eye on mbappe to deliver in recent times and he’s the teams Superman which is evident from the extravagant contract they agreed just to stop his move to Madrid in Summer.

PSG President said in a statement that Messi Will be in his full beast nature this season but it is like Neymar got challenged and took the statement to be personal.

Anyhow it goes, the expectations on the Mbappe-Messi-Neymar (MMN) trio did not deliver the expected outcome last season. Messi struggled, Neymar fumbled and Mbappe beyond all odds was the man but it wasn’t just enough to get his sole efforts working to fruition.

Neymar has 5 goals and three assist so far making him the highest of the three so far, despite the rumours and speculation of him leaving PSG in Summer it never tore him down.

He’s determined to pulled the strings, who says hard work don’t pay off? Well apparently it does and evident on Neymar Jnr.

For long league 1 has not been the aim, although it is very important for the team to secure but taking this foe to the UCL will go a long way in reaffirming his determination.

Back with a bang, Home alas!

Timo Werner’s return to RB Leipzig is beneficial to both the club and the player as evident that he feels more at home with the Red bulls than he does at Stamford Bridge.

Not more than 36 mins into the game, Timo already pulled a sensational goal.

He now happens to form a formidable lethal duo with Nkunku who is also clinical upfront. Not does his goal speak more of his recent inclination with the team, but the feeling of being home seems to be beyond words.

He made a comeback and he believes he won’t disappoint this time around. There’s more to expect from him.

Mikel Arteta’s bold strategy paid off

The season is not far from start but Arteta’s Arsenal is having the best of it as they stand second on the table behind Pep’s City, the tacticians bold strategy is really going as planned.

It is convincing to say that the attacking force of Arsenal is one to reckon with this season as both Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli have two goals to their in just the second week of the game.

Gabriel Jesus came up with a bang in Arsenal’s first home game of the season against Leicester City.

Seems like the attacking prodigy wanted it to be done at home as he pulled two magnificent goals and two fine assist to help Arsenal edge 4goals to 2 against Leicester.

Arsenal had hope that Arteta will gradually bring to team back to the right spot and it seems it’s paying off, as the Gurdiola’s apprentice is the youngest and one among the most tactical recent managers of the EPL.

His strategies are moving Arsenal to betterment.

Inexperienced Candidates Unfit For Presidency, Says Okowa

1

Delta State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party vice-presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, said with the challenges bedeviling the country, only experienced hands should be elected to steer the affairs of the country in the 2023 presidential election.

Okowa, who described the country as being in a fractured state, stated that the problems facing the country would overwhelm Buhari’s successor if he is inexperienced.

He added that the next Nigerian president should be someone who could salvage the country.

The governor spoke at an event organised by Green Assembly Initiative, to mark the 2022 International Youths Day in Abuja.

He said, “The way we look at what is going on today in Nigeria, there are loads of problems. And if we do not elect the right person, we’ll find ourselves getting somebody who will get on seat and stays confused on that seat because the problems will overwhelm him because he will not know how to start.

“Nigeria’s issues are not about communication. It is not about power because all those things are there. It is not easy to govern in this nation, where the rule of law is taken for granted because institutions are already working.

“When you work in a country like Nigeria and other West African countries where the issues are different and require a lot of deep thoughts; requires a lot of positive experience that can truly enable you to govern and to be able to bring everybody to reason on the table and be inclusive on the governance process and in the policy-making process.

“Not too many people have such experiences. I believe that the Nigeria of today is too fractured. There are so many contending voices. People are speaking in different directions. Our oneness is being threatened. Why? Not because of the north or south, Muslim and Christians, but because there’s frustration everywhere, there’s poverty everywhere. We don’t seem to have the answers because everything just appears to be going downhill.

“And then the issue of Social Security is no longer there. The security in the land is worsening, our economy is in terrible shape. We cannot continue in that state. We must prioritize our priorities. We must continue to look at the right things, what we ought to do”,

Okowa slammed the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), for not embracing state police despite the specter of insecurity in the country.

“When it comes to security demand. You’re going to hear various voices, even the governors are crying. And they have begun to equip themselves with weapons, even unlawfully.

“So the right thing is to ensure that the states are able to have their own police where they are officially equipped. And then they can go out in support of whatever the federal government police are doing to secure the land.”

Okowa also sympathised with the youths for the difficult times they were experiencing in the country.

“There are barriers everywhere in our lives, we cannot continue to frustrate the youths. So, we need to begin a consensus together. That is what Atiku Abubakar stands for.

“That was Nigeria today we do not have the depth of knowledge, the only man who seems to have that depth of knowledge to take us out of where we are is Atiku Abubakar. ”

The Chairman of the Green Assembly Initiative, Duke Alamboye, lamented that youths were faced with the challenges of insecurity, and dilapidated infrastructure among others on a daily basis over the years.

Saraki Tells Youths To Vote candidates That Have Character, Courage And Competence.

1

The immediate-past Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has urged Nigerian youths to vote for candidates with integrity, credibility and good character during the 2023 general elections.

Saraki spoke in Ilorin, Kwara State capital at a summit organised by Omoluabi Foundation founded by a former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, who is also the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Kwara Central in the 2023 election.

The summit was themed, “Leadership As Character.”

Saraki, who observed that Nigeria is in its current mess as a result of choice of leadership, admonished followers to always vote for politicians with good character.

He added: “I implore the youths to go out and do what is right in 2023 by voting for the candidates that have character, courage and competence.

“We are lucky that in few months time we will have an opportunity to press a reset button. It is time we look at ourselves and ask which of our leaders has character.

“The time for propaganda has gone. We should look at the character of those who wants to lead us. If we get the character right we will get the economy, security and cost of living right.

“If we the voters don’t have character to do what is right this country will not move forward. We should not always blame the leaders, the followers have a role to play.”

Earlier, the convener of the event, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi said Nigeria faced a very dangerous future “if we do not make right investment in our youths.

“Nigeria has a youth population that is more than the entire population of several West African countries put together.”
