Christians, Muslims Hold Special Prayers For Tinubu

0

The ‘ROT Like Minds’, a political group, has organised special prayers for the success of APC presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 general election.

The prayer session was held on Sunday in Lagos.

The coordinator of the group, Jimmy Akinboro, chaired the joint Islam and Christian special prayers.

The group is made up of supporters of Rotimi Agunsoye (APC-Kosofe, Lagos Federal Constituency).

Mr Akinboro said the group organised the prayers to seek spiritual intervention for Mr Tinubu’s presidential ambition.

“The group believes that Tinubu’s presidential ambition will become a reality by seeking the blessings of God. Tinubu is a trusted and tested leader who has touched lives and redefined leadership in and out of political positions,’’ he said.

Mr Akinboro explained that the prayer session was also to support Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s re-election bid.

“This is not the first time Hon Agunsoye is organising this type of programme. We have embarked upon this prayer session in honour of our principal and our mentor. This is because he has unfolded his ambition to become the president of the country by the grace of God,” he stressed.

Mr Akinboro added, “We are his foot soldiers, and we are his loyalists. All of us have come under the banner of this group to organise this Christian and Muslim prayer session. We want to hand over all our affairs to God so that He can guide us and grant our request. This is so that Tinubu can become president to continue to do what he knows how to do best, which is developing people and developing society.”

APC chieftain in Kosofe local council, Adebajo Adetunji, said the prayer session was to pray for more wisdom, knowledge and Tinubu’s aspiration to come to reality.

“If you look at his records when he was Lagos state governor, he created the 37 LCDAs. These councils have created jobs for more people in the state,” Mr Adetunji noted. “Tinubu groomed many leaders across the country and elevated so many politicians. That is why we are also supporting his ambition and also supporting Governor Sanwo-Olu.’’

Peter Obi Is An Excellent Candidate But Atiku Is Better – Reno Omokri

0

As we head towards the 2023 general elections, people are heating up the polity with lots of political rhetoric’s, comments, opinions, attacks and defense. Of course it is a good sign that the electorate are partakers in the political process unlike other electioneering period.

However, having accused the supporters of the presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, the ‘Obedient’ of threatening his life, former aide to former president Goodluck Jonathan, Pastor Reno Omokri, Sunday said that the former governor of Anambra state is an excellent candidate for 2023 presidential election.

Reno stated this via his verified Twitter handle. According to him Obi is an excellent candidate but the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar is better.

He urged people to support whoever they want and still respect each other.

His words: “I love Obidients, because they love #RenosNuggets. But I am voting for Atiku Abubakar. It does not mean Peter Obi is not an excellent candidate. He is.

“Just that Atiku is a better candidate in my opinion. We can all support who we want and still respect each other.”

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo had in an interview with ChannelsTv said that Obi is more experienced in governance than the former Vice President Atiku.

He said Mr Peter Obi is “ahead of him (Mr Atiku) in terms of capacity to make decisions. So how are we going to hand the country to somebody who has never held a position—who has never shown capacity where he makes the final call. Atiku Abubakar is not tested, he is not trusted. He has never held such a position, even Obi is ahead of him.

“The major rival we have today has never held an executive position where he makes the final call in government. So, we cannot second guess—Atiku Abubakar has never held an executive position where he made the final call; he was the vice president, he was not the chief executive, he was never governor, he was never anything. Even Peter Obi is ahead of Atiku Abubakar.”

Is Peter Obi getting more support even from the opposition than other candidates?

Tinubu Sees Presidency As Retirement Benefits, Says Dino Melaye

2

Former lawmaker, Dino Melaye, on Saturday, alleged that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, sees the presidency as his “entitlement and retirement benefits”.

On August 4 2022, the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, designated Melaye, and Dr. Daniel Bwala to serve as his spokespersons for the 2023 presidential campaign.

Malaye, who represented Kogi West at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly during the 8th Senate, alleged that Tinubu was contesting for the presidency not on basis of the greater good but to fulfill his “lifetime ambition”.

In a video shared on his Facebook page, the former lawmaker who was responding to the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, over his comment on Atiku in a TV interview recently, said, unlike Tinubu, the PDP’s candidate is contesting with rich credentials.

According to him, Atiku has the rudiments of civil administration and of politics.

“Atiku Abubakar is running for the presidency for the second or third time and he understands this route better than the political virgin, Tinubu, that you (Keyamo) are supporting who is running for the presidency for the first time and sees it as his life entitlement and retirement benefits for supporting Buhari.

“Atiku has rich credentials and he is not running because of entitlements. He is not running because of his support for any party. He is running because he’s got the credentials and he is a team player. He is a talent hunter and leader per excellence.”

Furthermore, Melaye describes Keyamo’s comment on Atiku during the interview as “shameful, very embarrassing and a disgrace”.

“Keyamo’s inactive ministerial sojourn is affecting him. Because if he has succeeded as a minister he won’t be talking the way he is talking. Many Nigerians will tell you today they don’t know the ministry where Keyamo is working because he is redundant, inactive and invisible and he has been completely consumed by the aura of Ngige, the superior minister.

“Because Keyamo is a commercialised conscience and he has monetised his life that is why he will not understand that the vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has some ministries, agencies and government parastatals under his direct supervision.

“What he has done is that he has disrespected the office of the vice president of Nigeria as a lawyer who understands the constitutionality, enormous responsibilities of that office.”

0

The spokesman of Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has issued a caution against killing Northerners in the Southeast.

Baba-Ahmed said targeting and killing Northerners in the Southeast was dangerous.

He pointed out that such an action could worsen community relations in other parts of Nigeria.

In a tweet, the NEF spokesman said politicians looking for votes should openly condemn such acts.

He stressed that such action against Northerners must stop.

Baba-Ahmed wrote: “Targeting and killing of Northerners, particularly in the South-East, should be condemned, and must stop.

“It is very dangerous because it could worsen community relations in other parts of the country.

“We need to hear clear and emphatic condemnations from those who want our votes.”

Nigerian Universities Good, Even Better Than Foreign Institutions – Garba Shehu

0

Garba Shehu, President Muhammadu Buhari’s media aide, says Nigerian universities are good, “even better” than foreign tertiary institutions, urging parents to focus on training their children in the country.

“You can see that a lot of foreign institutions are extending invitation to the students at discounted rate to study overseas,” Mr Shehu claimed. “I will say that Nigerian universities are equally as good and even better, and we are hoping that we will be able to stabilise university education in the country so that parents don’t have to pay exorbitantly to educate their children abroad. University education in Nigeria should be the best for our children.”

Mr Shehu stated this on the sideline of the 11th graduation ceremony of Glisten International Academy in Abuja on Saturday.

The presidential aide, whose son is graduating from the school, said, “For the graduating students, I want to say that they have a major decision to make, which is going to the next level in their education pursuit.”

The presidential media aide reacting to the recent extension of the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities by one month, called on parents to join Mr Buhari’s regime in begging ASUU to return to the classroom.

” It came like a bolt in the sky. We are shocked because it came at a time the president is giving full commitment to resolving the ASUU strike and having the students and teachers back in the school. The extension, I believe, should not have been done because the spirit at which the government now is trying to resolve the problems of ASUU is such that there should also be a benefit of doubt in favour of the government on the part of ASUU,” he said.

He expressed hope for an early resolution.

“The strike is unnecessarily extended, and this should not have been the case. I want to advise parents to join (the) government in begging ASUU to end this strike as the government is doing its part and parents are worried, and they should start talking to ASUU,” said Mr Shehu.

I’ll Defend My Mandate At Tribunal, Says Adeleke

1

Osun’s governor-elect, People Democratic Party’s (PDP) Sen. Ademola Adeleke, has said that he is ready to defend his victory at the election petition tribunal and retain his mandate.

Adeleke said his emergence as governor-elect was entrenched in total compliance with the law and in the will of the people.

His declaration is contained in a statement issued on Saturday in Osogbo by his spokesman, Malam Olawale Rasheed.

Sitting Gov. Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who was defeated at the July 16 election and his party, filed a petition before an election tribunal on Friday challenging the election’s outcome.

Adeleke, however, claimed that the election was one of the most transparent in recent history in Nigeria, adding that the people’s mandate, freely given against overwhelming odds, would be defended and validated.

He said in the statement that PDP’s Legal Department was taking appropriate action on the petition and called on his supporters to remain calm.

“This divine victory cannot be stolen through the backdoor.

“I urge the good people of Osun who voted massively to reject bad governance to remain calm.

“We are doing the needful to defend their mandate.

“We will do all within our powers to ensure judicial validation of our victory as this is an election globally certified as a great advancement in electoral transparency and integrity.

“We also want to reaffirm our faith in the judiciary as a bastion of hope and justice.

“We have unshakeable trust in God that this election petition shall end in another landmark victory for us and the resilient people of Osun,’’ he said

INEC declared Adeleke winner of the election on July 17 with 403,371 votes to Gov. Oyetola’s 375,027 votes.

APC Must Win Presidential, Governorship, All Elections In 2023, Says Adamu

0

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Adamu, has said the party must win big in 2023.

Adamu said APC must record resounding victories at the presidential, legislature, and governorship elections in 2023.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja, Adamu stressed that the APC would not be satisfied with just 25 percent votes.

“All the national elections, House of Representatives, Senate, Governorship, likely the presidential election, we’ll not be satisfied with just the 25 percent of votes cast.

“No halfway through it, if we’re to win, we must try to win every state,” Adamu stressed.

The APC National Chairman urged members of the ruling party to put their house in order and work towards the party’s victory in 2023.

Buhari Regime Incompetent – Ex-CBN Governor Sanusi

0

Former Central Bank of Nigeria’s governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has decried President Muhammadu Buhari’s taciturn leadership as a “mess” and slammed the APC regime for letting the country become bankrupt without applying a sense of urgency.

Last July, the CBN raised the alarm over Nigeria’s increasing debt profile, expressing concerns over debt sustainability in the face of global uncertainties.

“We were in a deep hole in 2015. And between 2015 and now, we have been digging ourselves into a deeper hole. We thought we had a big problem in 2015. 2015 is nothing compared to what will happen in 2023,” said Mr Sanusi, a critic of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

He added, “We have terrorism, we have banditry, we have inflation, we have an unstable exchange rate, and the worst thing is that those in leadership actually think we are going to thank them when they leave office, that we are going to appreciate them. There is no change.”

The ex-CBN and emir of Kano stated this at the Akinjide Adeosun Foundation (AAF) leadership colloquium, held in Lagos on Thursday.

Lamenting debt accumulation by Mr Buhari’s regime, Mr Sanusi said Nigeria “is the only oil-producing country that is grieving at the moment when oil prices have gone up as a result of the Russia/Ukraine war.”

Mr Sanusi also described Nigeria as bankrupt because it could not service its debts.

“Our total revenue is not able to service our debt. And if anybody does not understand that we are in a complete mess, we are. There is no sense of urgency,” he explained. “If you are running a company and your sales revenue cannot pay interest, you know you’re bankrupt. When the total revenue of the federal government cannot service debt, we are smiling.”

Mr Buhari has failed to rein in marauding bandits and the insurgent Boko Haram threatening to establish an Islamic rule.

Separately, Boko Haram and bandits have coordinated daring attacks, kidnapping and killing scores of innocent citizens, invading and attacking military and prison facilities.

In 2018, Nigeria displaced India to become the world’s poverty capital, according to a report by Brookings Institution, while Nigeria’s total public debt hit N41.60 trillion during Mr Buhari’s reign.
