2023 Not Obi’s Time, He Can’t Lead Nigeria – Dino Melaye

1

Senator Dino Melaye, the spokesperson for the presidential campaign of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Abubakar Atiku, has fired back at those faulting the presidential abilities of his master, Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking during an interview session on Channels Television, the senator who represented Kogi West Senatorial district in the eight Assembly, noted that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi does not have all it takes to unify Nigeria.

He stated that 2023 was not Obi’s time, noting that Nigerians ‘can’t have a national president in Obi’.

Dino who fiercely listed how Atiku had prepared himself for Presidency, said that Atiku was the only candidate that has updated his CV. He noted that Atiku recently obtained a masters degree in Dubai.

On how Atiku would tackle insecurity, Dino opined that: “Atiku has masters and good blueprint on how to deal with insecurity. He said that Atiku brought peace in Adamawa when it is needed most.

On the character of the former vice president, Dino averred that “Atiku has never been indicted of any criminal conducts. I don’t believe in noise making, I believe in facts and figures. “Atiku is upright. He is a great man. Atiku is trusted by Nigerians. Atiku is loved by the youths of this country”.

On APC, the outspoken Melaye said: “You can’t market what is not marketable”, Atiku is coming in to remove those financial scavengers and economic cankerworms. APC officials are good in giving carpentry jobs to tailors.”

Speaking on Peter Obi, Dino said: “We can’t have a national president in Obi. This is not Obi’s time. He doesn’t have all it takes to unify Nigerians. The people making noise about Obi are not following him on social media. It’s an euphoria”

Where will Marcus Rashford End?

0

After Manchester United’s first game of the season against Brighton AMD the very first EPL match under the charge of Erik Ten Hag that ended in a defeat to the Red devils, many United players we’re subject of criticism and Marcus Rashford was no exception.

Recently, PSG offered a whooping sum of £60m in bid of Rashford but Manchester United declined and set their valuation for the England’s international at £120m if PSG are really willing to opt for him.

One could have thoughts lingering in his head about the price, but we know PSG as a club that isn’t moved by price when they are really out for a player as we have seen in the case of Neymar and mbappe.

It is beyond reasonable doubts that Manchester United set the high asking price for Rashford in order to shy off PSG from the deal as it has recently been confirmed by ten Hag himself “Rashford is still part of our, plans”. Meanwhile should PSG trigger the asking price, it will leave United with no option than to part ways.

This scenario leaves is with the question of ” where will Marcus Rashford play next?”

What are your thoughts?

Nigerians Blame Buhari For Everything, Including Poor Performance In Bed, Says Femi Adesina

0

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has accused Nigerians of blaming his principal for their shortfalls.

Adesina lamented that some Nigerians blame Buhari for all the challenges, including poor performance in bed.

He said Nigerians blame Buhari because “resentment is their daily food and drink.”

Adesina disclosed this in his weekly article shared on his Facebook titled, ‘I Still Believe In Buhari.’

He lamented that Nigerians see the president as their “fall guy.”

The article read partly: “Resentment is a poor prop for anyone to lean on, goes another saying. But not for some Nigerians. Resentment is their daily food and drink, and they heap all the problems in the country on the head of the President if it rains too much.

“Blame Buhari. It doesn’t rain at all. Buhari is the cause. A man gets to bed at night no power. Buhari oooo. The President is the fall guy for everything.”

He stressed that Nigerians blame Buhari for the “parlous security situation in the land.”

Yobe Not Owing Workers’ Salaries – Buni

1

Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe on Friday said the government has been up-to-date in the payment of its workers’ salaries, in spite of the state’s meagre resources.

Buni, in a statement by his Director-General, Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Mohammed in Damaturu, said a recent survey conducted by BudgIT, a civic tech organisation, confirmed the development.

“The report of the survey which covers up to July 2022, captured Yobe state as one of the states that are not owing its civil servants,” he said.

The governor assured that prompt payment of salaries of civil servants would remain a top priority of his administration.

“In spite of the state’s meagre resources, this administration has been committed and consistent in payment of workers’ salaries, and will maintain the tempo.

“This administration will continue to observe prudence, accountability and transparency in all its transactions.

“We are committed to ensuring that we never fail in payment of salary to our workers,” Buni added.

He, however, urged workers on the state and local government payrolls to reciprocate the gesture through hard work, dedication and productivity.

“We all have great roles to play to uplift the lives of our people and create a state of our dream,” Buni added.

BudgIT had in 2020 ranked Yobe second best in capital budget expenditure in the country.

ASUU Strike Can’t Happen Under My Watch, Says Atiku

0

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has decried the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), boasting that such can not happen under his watch.

Speaking at the commemoration of this year’s International youth Day in Abuja on Friday, Atiku said his father did not want him to go to school, but he was able to embrace education up till university level.

Atiku said the most important and fundamental rights of any youth is education, saying “I take very strong exception to the strike by ASUU and the inability of the government to resolve that crisis. It will never happen under a PDP government or under my administration when I am elected.”

Atiku, who said he was an investor in the education sector, added that it is the responsibility of any responsible government to make sure that right is given to every Nigerian every youth in this country.

On his part, Delta state Governor and the PDP vice presidential candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, asked the youths to vote for an experienced politician like Atiku that will take Nigeria out of the woods.

Okowa, who spoke at the Green Assembly Initiative (GAI) Youth Rally to mark the International Youth Day, said Nigeria is currently too fractured for an inexperienced person to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said Atiku has what it takes to right all the wrongs done to the nation by the present administration.

Okowa wondered why the country will not allow much talked about State Police to secure lives and properties or embrace National Health Insurance policy for all, promising that Atiku administration will do it for the benefit of Nigerians.

“So the right thing is to ensure that the states are able to have their own police where they are officially equipped. And then they can go out in support of whatever the federal government police is doing. To secure the land.”

Speaking on the theme of the International Youth Day, 2022, titled: Inter-generational solidarity creating a world for all ages, Chairman of the Green Assembly Initiative (GAI), Comrade Duke Alamboye, said the challenges of insecurity, dilapidated infrastructure are what Nigerians are inundated with on a daily basis over the years.

2023: Involve in politics David Mark to Christians

2

A former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has appealed to Nigerian Christians to fully participate in politics in order to elect credible leaders.

Speaking in a statement on Thursday at the biennial conference of the Methodist Church Nigeria in Abuja, the former Senate President stated that the old assumption that the church should not get involved in politics remained a critical issue for debate in light of the country’s realities.

He said that Christians should get involved to sanitize the system.

According to him, “A lot of Christians believe that politics is a dirty game, but if politics is truly dirty, Christians should get involved to sanitize and clean it up to serve the purpose for the good of all.”

The former Senate President charged Christian leaders to encourage their faithful to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards in preparation to vote for the candidates of their choice during the 2023 general elections.

He observed that the state of insecurity in the land was lamentable and urged the government to do more to protect and defend her citizens against the mindless murderers, bandits, terrorists, and kidnappers ravaging the country.

Dr Samuel Uche, the Prelate of the Methodist Church, speaking on the theme of the conference, “Preparing for the second coming of Jesus Christ”, explained that the essence of the conference is to raise the consciousness of the Christian community towards its realization and not to be left in the dark.

He assured that the Church is earnestly praying for peace, security, and unity to return to Nigeria, for its citizens to fully undertake their legitimate activities.

ASUU Strike: Our members leaving Nigeria in large number – Prof Emmanuel

0

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has said that a large number of its members are leaving the country to pursue their careers abroad following the prolonged industrial action.

The national president of the union, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke disclosed this on Thursday while fielding questions from journalists at the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

He lamented that the Federal Government decided to seize salaries of the striking lecturers because they embarked on strike, saying such does not happen anywhere in the world.

He said, “We don’t have a certain statistic but a large number of our members have moved out of the country not because they hate this country but because of the way they are being treated.

“There’s no country in the world where their academics will go on strike and you think the best weapon is to seize their salary”.

Recall that ASUU on February 14 shut down public universities over the inability of the Federal Government to implement previous agreements the both parties entered into.

Lawyer Asks Dangote, Otedola To Pay Off ASUU

0

An Abuja-based lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has appealed to chief executive officers of banks and billionaire businessmen including Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Abdul Samad Rabiu, and Mike Adenuga to pay off the N1.1 trillion demands by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The lawyer said the Federal Government has displayed irresponsibility and nonchalance to resolve the lingering strike by ASUU since February 14, 2022.

Olajengbesi, therefore, urged the captains of industry to rise to the occasion just as they did during the COVID-19 pandemic when their financial intervention contributed immensely to Nigeria’s fight against the dreaded disease and its economic implications.

The lawyer’s appeal to the high net worth philanthropists followed the remarks of Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State who said the Federal Government cannot borrow N1.1 trillion to meet ASUU’s demands.

Commenting, Olajengbesi said, “The comment by Governor Dave Umahi of the All Progressives Congress is uncharitable and insensitive to millions of students of public universities who have been at home for seven months now since February 14, 2022 when ASUU embarked on an industrial action this year.

“It is reckless for the governor to say that the present administration cannot borrow N1.1 trillion to defray the Revitalization Fund and the Earned Academic Allowance owed ASUU. Whereas, the APC government has embarked on a borrowing spree since 2015 with Nigeria’s debt to China increasing from $3.26bn as of September 30, 2020, to $3.59bn as of September 30, 2021, showing an increase of $330m in one year. The figure has definitely risen in the last one year.

“The APC government must know that education is at the core of any development. Spending loans on phantom White Elephant projects and train is counterproductive without building the mind. Any infrastructural development without human capital development is nonsense.

“Having demonstrated its unwillingness to end ASUU strike despite the billions that Umahi’s APC received in the recent primary elections, good-spirited Nigerians can only appeal to business magnate like Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Abdul Samad Rabiu, Mike Adenuga, as well as bank chiefs to come to the rescue of the common Nigerians whose children have been out of school for seven months this year and nine months in 2020 whilst politicians send their children to schools abroad.

“The philanthropists should please answer the call of the nation for youths to return to classrooms as some of them may be lured into crimes as a result of idleness. One of Nigeria’s greatest resources is its vibrant youth bulge and this population should be harness for productivity and not left to rot away.”

We’ll Return Nigeria To Nigerians, Says Peter Obi

0

The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has assured Nigerians that his government, if elected as president will give them a sense of belonging.

Speaking at the Labour Party and Coalition for Peter Obi Leadership summit in Abuja on Thursday, the former Anambra State governor expressed optimism that his administration would take power back to Nigerians.

According to Obi, the only thing lacking in the country at the moment is leadership, stressing that his aim to occupy the number seat is to give Nigerians good leadership

Obi said: “Our job is to take power from those who have it and give it back to you. We have a country called Nigeria but we don’t have Nigerians. What we want to do is to create Nigerians.

“The only way to create Nigerians is to make people have hope in Nigeria and the only way they will have faith in Nigeria is that there is hope in Nigerians.

“The only thing that is lacking in this country is leadership. And that is what we intend to provide. We are not trying to do something else. Leadership is what Datti and I want to provide. We are not looking for anything”.
